Oil immersed distribution transformer is a widely used electrical power equipment designed for efficient voltage transformation and stable energy distribution in power systems. It adopts high-quality silicon steel cores and copper or aluminum windings, which ensure low energy loss, high efficiency, and long service life. The transformer is fully immersed in insulating oil, which serves both as a cooling medium and an insulating material, significantly improving heat dissipation and operational reliability.
The oil immersed structure allows the transformer to maintain stable performance even under heavy load conditions. The cooling oil circulates naturally or through forced cooling systems, effectively reducing internal temperature and preventing overheating. This design enhances safety and ensures continuous operation in industrial, commercial, and utility power networks.
In addition, the Oil immersed distribution transformer provides excellent short-circuit resistance and strong overload capacity, making it suitable for harsh working environments. It is widely applied in urban power grids, rural electrification projects, factories, substations, and infrastructure developments. With advanced sealing technology, it minimizes oil leakage and reduces maintenance requirements, offering a cost-effective and durable solution for long-term power distribution needs.

Applications and Advantages of 30/33/35kV Oil‑immersed Transformers
Applications
30/33/35kV transformers are widely used in medium‑voltage power distribution networks, serving as a critical connection between high‑voltage power delivery and end users. In China, these transformers are commonly applied in urban and rural electrical grids, industrial zones, wind and solar farms, as well as in railway traction power supply systems. They step down the primary voltage from 35kV or 33kV to lower secondary voltages such as 10kV, 6.6kV, or 0.4kV, depending on local grid requirements.
In many other countries, particularly in regions with legacy 33kV systems (for example, parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia), 33kV transformers remain the backbone of power distribution networks. They are also used in mining operations, oil and gas facilities, large commercial complexes, and infrastructure projects such as airports and seaports. For countries that follow IEC or British standards, 33kV is a common voltage class. Where European or international standards are adopted, 30kV and 35kV transformers are also specified for industrial and utility applications.
Advantages of the 35kV Voltage Class
The 35kV voltage class offers several distinct advantages over lower voltage levels such as 10kV or 20kV. First, it allows for longer power transfer distances with lower line losses. A 35kV line can deliver the same amount of electrical power over a much greater distance compared to a 10kV line, making it ideal for rural electrification, large‑scale industrial parks, and remote renewable energy plants.
Second, 35kV transformers help reduce the number of substations required in a network. Because a single 35kV feeder can supply a larger area or a higher total load, utilities can save on substation construction and maintenance costs.
Third, the 35kV class is widely recognised internationally. It is compatible with both IEC and GB standards, and many transformer manufacturers have standardised designs for this voltage level, resulting in reliable performance and readily available spare parts.
Fourth, 35kV transformers offer better short‑circuit withstand capability and insulation coordination than lower voltage units. They are well‑suited for outdoor installation in harsh environments, including high altitude, high humidity, and polluted areas. With proper tap‑changer configurations (on‑load or off‑circuit), they can also handle significant voltage fluctuations, ensuring stable power supply to sensitive industrial loads.
Finally, for industrial users with large motor drives, arc furnaces, or rectifier systems, a 35kV supply often reduces the need for heavy low‑voltage cabling and improves overall power quality by keeping fault currents at manageable levels.
